BACKGROUND
background
Correct Care Solutions (CCS) provides comprehensive medical services to inmates housed in Guilford County Detention Facilities. Medical services provided by CCS include intake screening, history and physical exams, dental services, routine sick call and examination, emergency medical treatment, prescription medication and pharmacy services, and mental health care.
CCS currently provides 16 hours/week (divided between the Guilford County Jail Central in Greensboro and High Point Detention Center) of psychiatric care and 74 hours (divided between Guilford County Jail Central in Greensboro and High Point Detention Center) of Mental Health Professional (MHP) care through the services of a certified counselor.
CCS respectfully requested to extend their agreement for an additional one-year period, effective July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. Requested pricing from CCS is listed below, additionally they are requesting additional staffing as a Discharge Planner to provide with the resources to ensure an effective discharge process and working relationship with community organizations to assist patients transitioning back to society.
CCS additionally, is requesting an Assistant Health Services Administrator (AHSA) to serve as an additional leadership position to be stationed in the High Point facility to oversee the administrative requirements of the healthcare program, as well as improving recruiting, data gathering, financial monitoring and reporting capabilities.
Additionally, CCS is providing at no cost, a pilot program for health care (e-Consult). It is a referral management process based on staff expertise with proven protocols to limit the cost of unnecessary off-site specialty care. The program includes consultation with an outside panel of specialists in near-real time to make sure that off-site specialty care is appropriate. The goal is a reduction in the occurrences for Sheriff’s Office Staff for the need to conduct off-site medical care visits.
CCS respectfully requested the contractually allowed changes as presented in their March 21st, 2019 letter:

Additions of the Discharge Planner and the HSA will increase current monthly compensation for Law Enforcement from $350,226.48 to $366,734.90 & from ($4,202,717.76 annually) to $4,400,818.80 effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019 for professional healthcare services being rendered at the Guilford County Jails.

Approve one (1) year contract renewal agreement with Correct Care Solutions (CCS), D/B/A Wellpath LLC, in substantial form to continue health services for inmates at the Guilford County Detention Facilities $4,400,818.80. The renewal is effective July 1, 2019 and ends on June 30, 2020.
