BACKGROUND
background
The City of Greensboro and Guilford County jointly funded a community assessment in 2018 by Cure Violence. Cure Violence is a program designed to address, reduce and eliminate violence in communities. Following receipt of the assessment report, elected officials and staff from the City of Greensboro and Guilford County have evaluated various options to structure and administer the program. One Step Further (OSF), a local non-profit organization was identified to manage the program.
Two (2) agreements were developed to outline the duties and responsibilities of the parties. A Memorandum of Agreement between the City, County and One Step Further specifies that the local governments will be the funders of the initiative and would share the total costs equally. The total operating budget for the program was estimated to be $406,804, so the city and county would each be responsible for $199,827 annually to support the operation of the program. This total includes the indirect costs which is the 10% ($36,982) administrative costs for One Step Further to carry out the program.
Under the proposed agreement the city and county would be responsible for:
1. Oversight and monitoring of OSF’s performance to ensure effective use of public resources.
2. Attending a quarterly meeting arranged by the Parties.
3. Assisting in building relationships between OSF and other members of the Program with county agencies to further the work of the Program.
4. Assisting in promoting the public health message of the Program and assist and participate in public forums regarding the Program.
