BACKGROUND

Background

The Sheriff's Office is requesting appropriation of $34,222 from Unauthorized Substance Tax Funds to purchase body cameras for our Court Services Bailiffs located in High Point and Greensboro.  Most other divisions of the Sheriff's Office have been equipped with body cameras, and the department believes the bailiffs' daily contact with inmates, as well as, citizens warrants the need for this equipment.  Forty (40) cameras would be purchased at the unit cost of $855.55, for a total cost of $34,222.  The purchase will be made from CDWG, 200 N. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills, IL 60061, under NC State Contract 204B.

Approximately $148,300 was available in Unauthorized Substance Tax Funds prior to this purchase.
