BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Sheriff's Office requests the purchase of 160 BWC-4000 Body Worn Camera Kits for Jail Central and High Point Jail Detention Officers. One of the primary benefits of body worn cameras for detention facilities is the ability to capture video and audio evidence. Body Worn Cameras will improve the civility of detention officer and resident encounters, and enhances citizen perceptions of officer transparency and legitimacy. On May 3, 2023, the Guilford County Purchasing Department reviewed and approved this purchase via State-approved Cooperative Purchasing Program Contract #010720PAN (Sourcewell Security and Public Safety Solutions) and Contract 13-22 (National Cooperative Purchasing Alliance) in the amount of $171,008.38. Total costs include: cameras, docking kits and device licenses. Approved Sourcewell and NCPA vendor for purchase will be through: GOV DIRECT pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-129 (e)(3).
