RESOLUTION
Resolution
WHEREAS, Guilford County supports the rights of every citizen to experience equality, dignity, respect and freedom from discrimination; and
WHEREAS, the County welcomes and values people of all backgrounds and believes a diverse community strengthens our shared civic, cultural, social and economic life; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County recognizes the significant contributions of all people, regardless of age, race, color, religion, marital status, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or other status; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month provides an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing pursuit of civil rights, to honor the courage and resilience of LGBTQ+ individuals and allies, and to reaffirm the importance of dignity, respect and equal opportunity for all residents; and
WHEREAS, all Guilford County citizens should be able to live without fear of prejudice and discrimination and should continue to seek educational and awareness opportunities that champion the civil rights of all people.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners recognizes June 2026 as Pride Month in Guilford County and encourages all residents to respect and honor our diverse community, and to participate in activities that build dialogue, strengthen alliances, and advance the equal rights of all individuals.
