BACKGROUND
background
The Facilities Department manages annual inspections of fire alarms in county facilities. This equipment also requires periodic upgrades and improvements. This agenda item seeks approval to complete fire alarm upgrades to the Greensboro Courthouse in the amount of $268,699.
This contract is the final phase of upgrading the fire alarm system at the Greensboro Courthouse. Phase 1 was complete in June of 2025. Phase 2 was recently completed in February of 2026. Johnson Controls Building Solutions has completed the two previous phases satisfactorily, and it is staff's recommendation to award the third phase to them at this time. The scope of work includes adding duct detectors, pull stations and annunciation devices as needed to comply with the current fire code. Additional wiring and electrical components will be supplied by Johnson Controls as needed. This will be an all-inclusive contract to upgrade the remaining fire alarm components. Work will be performed off-hours to avoid impacting court operations.
This contract pricing is based on the Sourcewell national purchasing agreement. Purchasing has approved a bid waiver to use the Sourcewell pricing for this contract.
