BACKGROUND
Background
At the September 7, 2023 Board of Commissioners Work Session, the Board authorized the County Manager to sign the Community College's Capital form demonstrating the County’s intention to provide up to $11.1 million for the Aviation Campus Phase I project.
On April 4, 2024 Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) presented an update on the project and included a request for an $11.1 million capital project ordinance for Phase One of the Aviation Training Center on the Cameron Campus. At the April 18, 2024 Board of Commissioner Work Session, staff presented options for how the Board of Commissioners could identify funding for the project, with the funds not expected to be needed until FY 2025-26.
