BACKGROUND

background

Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Division Laboratory is seeking to renew a five-year, price only contract with Hologic Sales & Service, LLC.  This contract is for reagents and supplies to perform the Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing for the detection of Neisseria Gonorrhea, Chlamydia trachomatis, Trichomonas, and Mycoplasma genitalium. In 2023, the clinic performed testing on 6,000 patients.  The total amount, based on current pricing and volume of tests performed in 2023, is $445,000 annually.  The total contract amount for five (5) years is $2,420,000 to account for inflation and a possible increase in the volume of tests performed.  The contract increase will be covered with MedMax funding.

Approve contract, in substantial form, for the sole source purchase of nucleic acid application testing equipment and consumables from the manufacturer, Hologic Sales & Service, LLC, in an amount not to exceed $2,420,000 for a term of five (5) years ($445,000 annually with possible fluctuations in volume and inflation), as authorized by G.S. 143-129 (e)(6) which provides that formal bidding requirements do not apply when a needed product is available from only one source or supply.
