BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health (GCDHHS-PH) and Every Baby Guilford (EBG), Inc. have formed a contractual relationship that shares both the brand of Every Baby Guilford and program implementation of infant mortality reduction services. GCDHHS-DPH provides staff, operational supplies and equipment, as well as the implementation of the Adopt-A-Mom program, which provides medical support and prenatal care to those who are undocumented or uninsured in Guilford County. EBG, Inc. recognizes and desires to assist in the financial support of the Adopt-A-Mom program by allocating additional funding outside of Guilford County Partnership for Children funding. As a result of this program, approximately 230 individuals are linked to prenatal care annually.
The Adopt-A-Mom program is required to comply with a contractual obligation both to the Guilford County Partnership for Children’s Smart Start funding and to Every Baby Guilford, Inc.
The Adopt-A-Mom program is both internally and externally focused, as participants are referred to several local physicians as well as GCDHHS-DPH maternity clinical services.
Grant funding will continue to aid the Adopt A Mom program in providing prenatal doctor visits and ultrasounds.
