RESOLUTION
Resolution
WHEREAS, as we observe the anniversary of the Vietnam War, we pay tribute to the over three million servicemen and women who fought heroically to protect our country and upheld the highest traditions of our Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, as a grateful nation, we honor more than 58,000 patriots who sacrificed their lives and draw inspiration from the heroes who returned home, carrying scars seen and unseen. We pledge, as a nation, to bring home over 1,600 service members still counted as missing and extend appreciation to our veterans and military family members who have and continue to serve this country with valor; and
WHEREAS, on March 29, 2024, Guilford County will unite with other local governments, private organizations and communities across the United States to commemorate the anniversary of the Vietnam War and honor the proud service members who led this country through one of its most challenging times; and
WHEREAS, Guilford County reminds its citizens that it is never to late to pay tribute to the men, women and their families who answered the call to duty during the Vietnam War and honor them with our respect and support.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Guilford County Board of Commissioners proclaims March 29, 2024 as Vietnam Veterans Day and extends its sincerest appreciation to those who served, and their families, and encourages citizens to participate in appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities honoring this day.
