BACKGROUND
background
The County issued an Invitation to Bid in December 2023 for veterinarian medical services and received no responsive bids. Animal Services must be able to purchase specific medicines and products that are only available from certain distributors. Therefore, Animal Services is requesting sole source approval to purchase Veterinarian Medical Supplies for the next five (5) years, as needed via purchase order, from the following suppliers and their annual not to exceed allocations:
MWI Veterinary Supply Co ($120,000)
Butler Animal Health Holding Company ($100,000)
Patterson Veterinary Supply Inc. ($50,000)

Approve the sole source purchases and associated contracts, in substantial form, of veterinarian medical supplies from the following exclusive distributors: MWI Veterinary Supply Co., Butler Animal Health Holding Company, and Patterson Veterinary Supply Inc., in the not to exceed annual combined amount of $270,000 for five (5) years, at a combined total of $1,350,000; as authorized by G.S. 143-129 (e) (6), which provides that formal bidding requirements do not apply when a needed product is available from only one source or supply.
