BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County's FY 2022-23 County Vehicle Replacement Plan included the purchase of six (6) vehicles for replacement of current motor pool vehicles with mileage readings over 125,000. However, these vehicles were not delivered as of June 30, 2023 as a result of General Motors canceling the orders for six (6) of the vehicles due to supply chain issues. The contracts were canceled and the debt proceeds to purchase these vehicles were returned to the County's fund balance. In order to re-purchase any vehicles, Board action is required to appropriate the debt proceeds from fund balance in order to establish an expenditure budget.
Through a competitive bid process managed by the Purchasing department under event #20156 replacement vehicles were located. The Guilford County Fleet Department is requesting purchase of six (6) Toyota Camry LE from Toyota of Greensboro (Rice Toyota), located at 2630 Battleground Avenue, Greensboro, NC at a unit cost of $25,000 per vehicle, or $150,000 total.

REQUESTED ACTION
Requested Action
Amend the General Fund budget ordinance to increase appropriated fund balance by $150,000 and increase appropriation to the FY 2023-24 Fleet Operation budget by the same amount and approve the purchase of six (6) vehicles from Toyota of Greensboro (Rice Toyota) for use by the Guilford County Motor Pool and other departments in the amount of $25,000 per vehicle, or $150,000 total.
