BACKGROUND
Background
In May 2022 the County received an unsolicited offer to purchase the above property in Browns Summit by Greensboro Batting Center in the amount of $100,000. Staff had already begun an evaluation and deemed the property not to have a beneficial use if held by the County, and recommended to sell the property. The Board authorized staff to enter the 10-day upset bid process per G.S. 160A-269 on September 1, 2022. The first upset bid was received on September 19, 2022. A total of six (6) upset bid processes were needed until no further bids were received. The highest bidder was the Greensboro Batting Center with a bid of $260,000 at the December 2, 2022 bid opening.

Requested Action
Approve the sale of surplus property located at 5009 A NC Highway East, Browns Summit, NC (Tax Parcel ID No. 114067) for $260,000 to current highest bidder, Greensboro Batting Center, Inc., on the terms of the attached Contract for the Purchase and Sale of Real Property, in substantial form, and authorize staff to take all reasonable and necessary steps and execute any documents needed to complete the sale of property.
