BACKGROUND
background
This change order applies to the CM at Risk Contract between the County and Samet for the construction of the new Sheriff's Office.
To secure an order for structural steel Samet requested that the County expedite the bid process ahead of the Phase 2 construction package. The structural engineer provided the steel design package and Samet put out a request for bids.
Three (3) firms responded with bids. Bids ranged from $1,599,000 to $1,740,000. After reviewing the bids, Samet confirmed that SteelFab was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder with a price of $1,599,000. This change order includes markups and contingencies in accordance with the terms of the original CM at Risk contract to bring the total cost of the change order to $1,758,813. Samet provided information that this change order will have 18.5% MWBE participation. This will increase the overall project participation rate from 31% to 33%.
