BACKGROUND
Background
The County Vehicle Replacement Plan, approved as part of the FY 23 budget, included the purchase of six (6) chassis as replacement chassis for current Emergency Services ambulance units with over 250,000 miles. Chassis are under unusually high demand in the upcoming fiscal year, and have to purchased through a allocation method with vendors. We need to get the chassis order approved and in the hands of the vendor for the allocation process. A thorough review of the current fleet and condition of vehicles resulted in the department requesting to purchase five (5) new complete ambulance units, and remounting two (2) of the existing "medic units" (remount expense and new ambulance boxes will be separately listed for BOC approval at a future date).
These chassis are for five (5) Ford F550, 4WD, supercab chassis and two (2) F450 4WD supercab chassis; and will be purchased from Piedmont Ford (412 S. Regional Rd, Greensboro, NC 27409) under NC State Contract 070A at an individual cost of $60,670.00 each for the F550 and $58,578.30 for the F450 OR $420,506.60 total.

Requested Action
Approve purchase of five (5) Ford F550 and two (2) Ford F450 Cab/Chassis from North Carolina State Contract 070A from vendor: Piedmont Ford, 412 S. Regional Rd., Greensboro, NC 27409, including any necessary financing arrangements. Cab/chassis will be for use by Emergency Services as ambulance chassis. Contract amount for total award is $420,506.60.
