PROCLAMATION
Proclamation
WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services are a vital public service; and

WHEREAS, Guilford County began ambulance services to the citizens on March 17, 1969 as the Emergency Transportation Services; and

WHEREAS, in 1974 Guilford County began one of the first Paramedic level ambulance services in the State of North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, the Guilford County Emergency Medical Services system has, since its inception, established itself as a leading innovator in the provision of emergency medical care to victims of injury and illness; and

WHEREAS, the growth and refinement of the Emergency Medical Services has resulted in improved knowledge and capabilities among the highly trained staff of Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians, and expedient access to needed services by citizens throughout Guilford County; and
WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of first responders, telecommunicators, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators, logistics and maintenance personnel, emergency nurses, emergency physicians, and others; and
WHEREAS, this dedication to improved service has resulted in numerous forms of recognition, including being one of less than two hundred ambulance services in the United States accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Ambulance Services; and,

WHEREAS, all citizens of Guilford County can take pride and comfort in the fact that they are served by a professional Emergency Medical Services capable of providing state of the art basic and advanced life support treatment to the citizens and visitors of Guilford County, twenty-four hours a day; and
