BACKGROUND
Background
Juneteenth (June 19th) is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the abolition of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth is a federally recognized holiday and, if adopted, would be celebrated in Guilford County on June 20, 2022 and will be incorporated into the County's annual holiday schedule, thereafter.
Regulation 25 will be amended with the following language:
"Employees that are required to work on the Juneteenth holiday will receive payment for hours worked and equivalent time off for the holiday hours (floating holiday) to be taken at a later date with Director’s approval. The floating holiday must be used by December 31 of the year in which the holiday was granted."
