BACKGROUND
Background
Current hauler licenses are set to expire on June 30, 2022. Collection vehicles of Republic Services, GFL Environmental, and Randolph County Garbage Service were inspected in February 2022 and were found to be in good operating condition.
Approval of this request would require licensed haulers to adhere to performance standards (a/k/a Customer Bill of Rights, attached) as referenced in the Guilford County Solid Waste Ordinance. Performance standards will be attached to both the hauler application and provided as part of the hauler license (both attached), if approved. While the County can adopt uniform performance standards “across the board” for all of its licensee haulers, the Board of County Commissioners do reserve the right to adjust performance standards, as deemed appropriate, from hauler to hauler while being consistent in customer delivery expectations.
Section 15.5-6 Licensing of solid waste collectors (e) of the Guilford County Solid Waste Ordinance (attached) provides that “…[w]hereupon inspection of facilities, equipment or operating methods or practices of any person/company licensed to perform solid waste collection and transportation, the County finds that conditions or practices exist which are not compliant with applicable regulations, the Environmental Services Program Manager will give written or email notice to that licensee that unless the conditions or practices are corrected or remedied within ten days, then the collector’s license may be suspended or revoked…”
