BACKGROUND

Background

The amendment to the Guilford County Solid Waste Ordinance revises Section 15.5-6 - Licensing of solid waste collectors, item (b) Application Filing Dates. Application filing deadline is proposed to be revised from September 1^st to March 1^st to align with license expiration date of June 30^th. This provides staff time to inspect equipment and prepare request for Board of Commissioner consideration.  Proposed new text is reflected by underline and deleted text by strikethrough.

Staff requests amending the current Solid Waste Ordinance as indicated below:

Sec. 15.5-6. - Licensing of solid waste collectors (b) Application Filing Dates

(b) Application Filing Dates. Applications for licenses to engage in the business of solid waste collection shall be filed with the Environmental Services Program Manager no later than September March 1st of the calendar fiscal year in which the license expires.
