North Carolina APCO awards
Radio Technician of the Year- Keith Hayes
Keith Hayes has always had a passion for radio technology, and worked closely with our Technical Services Division (Radio Shop) in developing positional layouts on the MCC7500 screens. Keith was selected for a position in the Radio Shop, and made the transition to Radio Specialist Electronic Process, better known as Radio Technician. With Keith’s knowledge of the workings on the Communications Center, he has been instrumental in streamlining processes, creating cleaner MCC7500 templates, and channel usage and assignments. Keith was also instrumental in the implementation of USDD Station Alerting for our Fire Dispatch.

Craig Moser Award- Melanie Neal (Jones)
This award is given to a dedicated, committed North Carolina APCO member in good standing, who has shown exceptional contributions to the betterment of the Chapter and promoted improvements that benefit all members.
With over 33-years of service, Melanie Neal-Jones is a long-time fixture in the North Carolina public safety and public safety communications community. She began her career serving as a Deputy Sheriff for 10 years, and transitioned into working in the 911 communications center. Since then, she has served as a frontline Telecommunicator, a Shift Supervisor, an Operations Manager, and now she serves as the Executive Director of the second largest consolidated emergency communications center in the state.

Supervisor of the Year- Angela Mitchell
Angela is a working floor supervisor. She is able to work any, and all, positions within the Comm Center.
