PROCLAIM JANUARY 9, 2022 AS NATIONAL
LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAY
WHEREAS, the brave men and women of law enforcement have answered the call to protect and serve our communities; and
WHEREAS, it is the objective of the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office to enhance the quality of citizens' lives by serving as a resource to our residents and reducing crime and the fear of crime ; and
WHEREAS, enduring long shifts in dangerous and unpredictable circumstances, law enforcement officers risk their lives so the communities, families, and people of Guilford County can live in peace and security; and
WHEREAS, members of law enforcement recognize their duty to serve the people of Guilford County by safeguarding life and property, by protecting against violence and disorder, and by protecting the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression or intimidation; and
WHEREAS, over the past two years, law enforcement officials have shown resilience and dedication to addressing the safety needs of this community during the COVID-19 pandemic while putting their own health at risk, and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Guilford County appreciate the extraordinary efforts and sacrifices made by officers and their family members on a daily basis in order to protect our schools, workplaces, roadways, and homes; and
NOW, THEREFORE, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners do hereby proclaim January 9, 2022, as: “National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” in Guilford County, and commend our members of law enforcement at all levels, and honor their courage and dedication to our Guilford County Community.
