BACKGROUND

Background

North Carolina Local Health Department Accreditation Benchmark 37 reads: “The local board of health shall assure the development, implementation and evaluation of the local health services and programs to protect and promote the public’s health.”

Within Benchmark 37 is activity 37.2 which reads; “The local board of health shall approve polices for the administration of local public health programs.”

Program Directors are required to review the assigned agency guidelines on an annual basis and make the necessary changes and modifications as needed. The review of all agency guidelines was completed in July 2021. The agency’s guidelines and any changes or modifications were given to the Health and Human Services Advisory Committee for review at the September 22, 2021 meeting. The division is seeking an approval by the Board of Commissioners, acting as the Guilford County Board of Health, of the agency’s guidelines upon the recommendation of the Health and Human Services Advisory Committee.
