BACKGROUND

background

In 2016, Guilford County, the City of Greensboro and the City of High Point entered into an agreement to jointly fund and manage a Community Notification System which utilizes the Everbridge Software Suite.  The original agreement expires in October 2021 and the parties wish to extend the original contract for an additional three (3) years.  This system provides voice, text and email notifications to both community members and visitors to Guilford County, and is utilized for employee notifications by all three (3) organizations.  The system has been instrumental in making emergent public safety notifications on critical incidents and has been used extensively to support the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  Since November 2020, roughly 1,438,764 messages have been delivered to individuals and organizations.

This extension will continue the current three-way equal cost share ($40,834 each in FY 2021) that is currently in place, with the County serving as the primary liaison with the vendor.  Funding for FY 2022 is included in the adopted budget.
