BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Transportation Department has prepared the 5310 - Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities and the 5311 - Community Transportation Program (CTP) 5307 Urban Area Grant applications for FY2023 to be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (DOT) no later than October 8,2021.
The total amount of the 5310 Grant request for FY2023 is $202,000, 50% grant of $101,000 with a 50% County match of $101,000.
The total amount of the 5311 Grant request for FY2023 is $197,553, 85% grant of $167,919 of with a 15% County match of $29,634.
The total amount of the 5307 Grant request for FY 2023 is $80,000, 50% grant of $40,000 with a 50% County match of $40,000.
The grant application for the 5310 program provides funding for salaries and vehicle maintenance expenses for the Guilford County Transportation Department. The FY2021 grant provided over 4,996 trips for the elderly and disabled citizens of Guilford County. The 5311-CTP grant is used for administrative and capital assistance.
A public hearing is required to assess the value and need for a community transportation system and assistance to the elderly and disabled citizens of Guilford County. Attached is a summary of the grant request and authorizing resolution.
