BACKGROUND
Background
On May 7, 2015 the Board of Commissioners voted to declare surplus properties located throughout Guilford County obtained through property tax foreclosure, dedication and gifting. At the direction of the Board, these properties were approved to be sold by the sealed bid method as prescribed by NCGS 160A-268. On April 18, 2021 the properties below were advertised for sale with sealed bids due on May 19, 2021 at 5:00pm. On May 20, 2021 at 9:00am, a public bid opening was held where the following bids were received:
1002 YY East Bragg Street, Greensboro (Tax Value: $500; Minimum Bid Amount: $400): Received bid of $400.00 from John C. Greene
132 134 Mayview Avenue, High Point (Tax Value: $200; Minimum Bid Amount: $100): Received bid of $200.00 from Rebecca W. Miller
1303 YY Twain Road, Greensboro (Tax Value: $500; Minimum Bid Amount: $400): Received bid of $400.00 from Sherry E. Smith
All of these bids met the criteria as laid out in the Advertisement for Sealed Bid including a deposit of at least 5% in the form of certified funds. The highest bidders were declared the Highest Qualified Bidders.

Requested Action
Approve, in substantial form, the sale of surplus property located at 1002 YY East Bragg Street, Greensboro; 132 134 Mayview, High Point; and 1303 YY Twain Road, Greensboro to the current highest bidder and authorize staff to take all reasonable and necessary steps to execute the sale of the property.
