BACKGROUND

background

The City of High Point began servicing the Deep River Fire Protection District and Deep River Fire Service District in 2004, when the Deep River Fire Department ceased operations.  Most of the fire protection contracts were updated in 2012, however the agreement with High Point was not.  This update addresses many of the performance measures required of other contractors for fire protection, as well as emerging issues being addressed with parcel transfers in the public hearing conducted on during the Board of Commissioners regular meeting on June 3, 2021 and pending resolution authorizing parcel transfer of properties from the Colfax Service District to the Deep River Service District.

This is an evergreen agreement, and allows Guilford County to collect and disburse the taxes from the special service district to the City of High Point for fire protection and rescue/medical services.
