BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Family Justice Center (GCFJC) is the recipient of the North Carolina’s Governor’s Crime Commission grant funding to increase the GCFJC’s capacity to serve victims of domestic and sexual violence with two (2) additional grant-funded Navigator positions. GCFJC staff are responsible for coordinating the multiagency collaborative, which is comprised of 100 professionals representing 17 disciplines and organizations at its two (2) center locations. This grant project provides funding for two (2) additional Navigators to support the coordination of resources and support for victims seeking assistance from the GCFJC. Navigators serve as the portal of entry and first contact for all GCFJC clients. Navigators provide direct services to clients and/or their families, which includes triaging client needs, providing information about GCFJC partners and services, and completing safety and lethality assessments. Navigators also work closely with GCJFC partners to help victims access and utilize the full range of services available at the GCFJC.
Grant funds will pay for the hiring of (2) two new staff positions. The new positions will be time-limited and contingent upon ongoing grant funding. The GCFJC currently has one (1) Navigator in the High Point office and three (3) Navigators at the Greensboro office. These two (2) new positions will provide support to both GCFJC locations, depending on the needs of each center. This grant award project ends in September 2022 and these new positions are expected to start January 1, 2021.
Overview of grant-funded Navigator staff positions:
1. Navigator 1 and Navigator 2 will provide the coordination and provision of direct client services on-site at the GCFJC. This position works closely with GCFJC partners to help victims of child abuse, domestic and sexual violence, and elder abuse access and utilize the full range of services available at the GCFJC. Duties include interviewing clients to determine appropriate services, assisting clients in navigating the various programs and services offered at the GCFJC, and providing follow-up case management and support to help clients utilize the full range of GCFJC services available.
Due to COVID, this NC Governor’s Crime Commission grant has no match requirement.
