BACKGROUND
Background
During its November 19, 2020 Board of Commissioners regular meeting, a public hearing was conducted to assess the value and need for a community transportation system and assistance to the elderly and disabled citizens of Guilford County. The Guilford County Transportation Department is now prepared to submit the 5310 Enhanced Mobility for Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities, 5311 Community Transportation Program (CTP) and 5307 Urban Area grant applications for FY 2021-22 to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The 5310 program will provide funding for salaries and vehicle maintenance expenses for the department, while the 5311 grant assists with administrative and capital expenses. The total grant request amounts and county match funding requirements are listed below:

WHEREAS, Article 2B of Chapter 136 of the North Carolina General Statutes and the Governor of North Carolina have designated the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) as the agency responsible for administering federal and state public transportation funds; and
