BACKGROUND
Background
Cascades Preserve is a 129-acre passive park owned by Guilford County. Its address is 7353 Goodwill Church Road, Kernersville, NC, and is located near the towns of Oak Ridge and Stokesdale. The Town of Oak Ridge has assisted with the monitoring and routine maintenance of Cascades Preserve including trails and parking area at no cost to the County per the initial five-year memorandum of understanding (MOU). This MOU was approved by the Board of Commissioners in 2015 and expired on July 31, 2020. The MOU has been updated and reviewed by both Guilford County Parks and the Town of Oak Ridge for the Town of Oak Ridge to continue to assist with the monitoring, maintenance, and management of the preserve at no cost to the County. It is recommended that the joint effort continue per the MOU since it is beneficial to both Guilford County and the Town of Oak Ridge.

Approve, in substantial form, the Memorandum of Understanding with the Town of Oak Ridge for five years from November 1, 2020, through October 31, 2025 regarding the monitoring, maintenance, and management of Cascades Preserve.
