BACKGROUND
Background
On May 7, 2015 the Board of Commissioners voted to declare as surplus properties located throughout Guilford County obtained through property tax foreclosure, dedication and gifting. At the direction of the Board, these properties were approved to be sold by the sealed bid method as prescribed by NCGS 160A-268. On September 13, 2020 the properties below were advertised for sale with sealed bids due on October 14, 2020 at 5:00pm. On October 15, 2020 at 9:00am, a public bid opening was held where the following bids were received:
2846 2848 Lees Chapel Road, Greensboro (Tax Value: $20,000; Minimum Bid Amount: $1,000): Received bid of $1,200.00 from Thomas and Smith Group LLC
800 Meredith Street, High Point (Tax Value: $5,000; Minimum Bid Amount: $1,000): Received bid of $1,220.00 from Tamika Adanna Songster
723 Minneola Street, Gibsonville (Tax Value: $14,000; Minimum Bid Amount: $5,000): Received bid of $6,750.00 from Tamika Adanna Songster
3248 US Highway 158, Stokesdale (Tax Value: $19,800; Minimum Bid Amount: $2,000): Received bid of $2,550.00 from Tamika Adanna Songster
All of these bids met the criteria as laid out in the Advertisement for Sealed Bid including a deposit of at least 5% in the form of certified funds. The highest bidders were declared the Highest Qualified Bidders.

Requested Action
Approve, in substantial form, the sale of surplus property located at 2846 2848 Lees Chapel Road, Greensboro; 800 Meredith Street, High Point; 723 Minneola Street, Gibsonville and 3248 US Highway 158, Stokesdale to the current highest bidder and authorize staff to take all reasonable and necessary steps to execute the sale of the property.
