BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Board of Education has decided that the FY 2020-21 academic year will begin on August 17th with the first nine weeks being remote learning for most students. GCS will need additional technology to allow students to learn remotely. The Board of Education adopted a resolution on July 28th requesting that Guilford County use $5,000,000 of the funds the County allocated to the Local Current Expense Fund for 2020-21 to purchase devices for students and teachers. GCS is requesting that the funds be used to purchase 5,291 devices for teachers. The County will pay the sales tax in the amount of $337,500 and apply for reimbursement next year.
