BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is in receipt of the 2020-21 Governor’s Highway Safety Program Grant in the amount of $558,114. The grant includes $139,529 in revenue and requires a local match of 75% or $418,585 which is shared between the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office ($291,085) and the High Point Police Department ($127,500). DWI Taskforce Program grant funds are used to sustain the existing multi-agency DWI Taskforce program and the DWI Educator program. These programs address traffic-related issues such as unrestrained drivers and children, speeding, motorist driving while impaired, and offers community education on these issues. This is the 9th year of funding for this program.
Board approval of the accompanying local government resolution for the grant is necessary.
