BACKGROUND

Background

In 2003Guilford County, City of High Point and City of Greensboro entered into an agreement establishing a spill fund to ensure prompt cleanup of hazardous materials when the responsible party cannot be immediately identified and is replenished when the fund balance is reduced to $10,000 through a pre-existing written agreement between the municipalities. The Public Health Division of Environmental Health is responsible for initiating clean up activities and is responsible for authorizing payments from the fund. The current fund balance is $7,656.29.

REQUESTED ACTION

Requested Action

Approve an $11,000 increase in User Charges ($5,500 each from the Cities of Greensboro and High Point) and a $5,500 increase in Appropriated Fund Balance (Guilford County's portion) and increase the FY 2019-20 Health & Human Services - Public Health Division budget in order to replenish the Hazardous Material clean-up fund.
