BACKGROUND
Background
This change order in the amount of $400,420 includes the cost of the installation of underground utilities and initial curb, gutter, and base pavement on the future Sandhills building site in the current Guilford County construction contract with Samet Corporation. The cost of this work was competitively bid as part of the site work bid package. This is being done as part of the negotiation with Sandhills Center in recognition of recent actions by their Board. Approval of the change order is needed to avoid a potential delay in the completion of site work that is already in progress. This will increase the total construction contract cost to $15,469,308. A $400,000 increase in the capital project ordinance to a new total of $20,800,000 is needed to provide the additional funding.

Requested Action
Approve an increase of $400,000 in the Mental Health Facility Replacement capital project ordinance to be funded with Bond Proceeds (2019 issuance). Approve change order #2, in substantial form, for $400,420 to amend the construction contract with Samet Corporation for the Guilford County Adult Behavioral Health Crisis Center.
