BACKGROUND

Background

Guilford County is set to receive approximately $300,000 in wellness incentive money from United Healthcare ($150,000 in calendar year 2019; $150,000 in calendar year 2020).  The proposed plan for the wellness money is as follows: $150,000 for construction costs for the County's newly constructed Wellness Center (set to replace the initial appropriated funds from Facilities); $54,897 to be used for salary and benefits of the Wellness Coordinator (to replace the fund balance currently used to pay for the existing position); and the remaining $95,103 to be used for the purchase of exercise equipment for the Wellness Center.  The Finance Department recommends that the $150,000 set to be received in 2020 be deposited in the Internal Services Fund, as the Wellness Coordinator position was budgeted in this fund for FY 2019-20, and purchases from this fund are consistent with previous equipment purchases for the Wellness Center.
