BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Public Health received an award from Duke Endowment for at total of $343,727 for the continued support and expansion of our Guilford Family Connects (GFC) Evidence Based Nurse Home Visitation Program, as part of Phase I of the Get Ready Guilford Initiative Year 1 (ultimately supporting 8 new positions).
This year’s initial grant funding of $172,007 included in the FY2019-20 adopted budget will continue to support two (2) Nurse Specialist I positions which were originally approved by the Board of Commissioners in January 2018. The additional grant award of $171,720 approved by the Board of Commissioners in July 2019 provided funding for six (6) new positions, four (4) of which were approved in July 2019. Two (2) Nurse Specialist I positions were staggered for later approval. We are now ready to move forward with these two (2) additional positions. This will allow us to utilize the funder's resources in the most efficient manner.
