BACKGROUND
Background
Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (EVAD) were developed by the NC Department of Agriculture to encourage the preservation and protection of farmland from non-farm development.
During its October 21, 2019 meeting, the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following applications:
1. VAD Application #2019-09, being 19.18 acres and comprised of one (1) Tax Parcel (#138669 @ 19.18 acres) all owned by Marjorie Benbow of Summerfield, NC; and
2. VAD Application # 2019-10, being 83.03 acres and comprised of two (2) Tax Parcels (#113739 @ 78.56 acres, # 113708 @ 4.47 acres) all owned by William & Helen May of McLeansville, NC.
To date, approval of these applications bring the total number of VAD and EVAD parcels to 409 totaling, 17,903.8 acres enrolled. Of these totals, 370 parcels comprising 16,230.12 acres are enrolled in VAD, and 39 parcels comprising 1,673.68 acres are enrolled in the EVAD.
