BACKGROUND

Background

Each year the Guilford County Sheriff's Office includes initial estimates of unexpended grant amounts from the prior fiscal year in the adopted budget.  Once the county's Finance Department and Sheriff's Office staff complete their final review of operations, revised amounts are available and the new fiscal year budget is adjusted to reflect actual resources available.  This adjustment is to align the FY 2019-20 budget with the final FY 2018-19 unexpended grant amounts remaining.  Grant funds impacted by this adjustment will be the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Grant, Governors' Highway Safety Law Enforcement Liaison Grant, Governors' Highway Safety DWI Task Force Grant, Governors' Highway Safety Bike Safe Grant, Governor's Crime Commission Grants, and Justice Assistance Grants.  The net impact of this adjustment is an increase in the FY 2019-20 Law Enforcement budget of $96,925.
