BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County is constructing a new Animal Shelter at 980 Guilford College Road and wishes to install a gravity sanitary sewer line to connect to the City of Greensboro pump station located approximately 1500 feet to the north of our property. Martin Marietta owns three (3) tracts of land (parcel numbers 154688, 154701, and 151190) that are part of their Pomona Quarry site that the sewer will need to pass through via an easement. The path of the sanitary sewer through the Martin Marietta site is as indicated on the attachment. The cost of the easement is $7,500 and the draft general warranty easement deed is also attached. The Animal Shelter Replacement capital project has sufficient funding for the purchase of this easement.

Requested Action
Approval is requested for the purchase of a sanitary sewer easement from Martin Marietta for $7,500 via a general warranty easement deed, in substantial form, for the purpose of constructing a sanitary sewer connection to serve the new Animal Shelter and authorize staff to take all reasonable actions to finalize and execute said purchase.
