BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County DHHS-Public Health Division was awarded the 2019 GlaxoSmithKline Child Health - Local Health Department Recognition Award. This award recognizes Public Health workers and programs that improve the health status of children. DHHS-Public Health Division School Nurse Program was recognized for our Type 1 Diabetes Support Group initiated by School Nurse, Jennifer Scheibly. This program provides emotional and physical support to students with Type 1 Diabetes and their families by connecting with the community to raise awareness. School Nurses facilitate the group and refers their students and families to the group once the student is diagnosed with diabetes.
The funds will be used for special projects, staff development, and educational materials.

Approve an increase in Other Revenues of $10,000 and increase the DHHS-Public Health Division FY 2019-20 budget by the same amount to reflect funds received from GlaxoSmithKline Child Health - Local Health Department Recognition Award to support Public Health’s School Nurse Type 1 Diabetes Support Group program through special projects, staff development, and educational materials.
