BACKGROUND
Background
As part of the 100 Year celebration of the NC Office of Public Health Nursing, 100 Distinguished Public Health Nurses were honored. Guilford County is proud to boast of ten (10) nurses from the Public Health Division. The recipients are:

Penny Bell
San San Cho
Nicky Finch
Karen Hicks
Lydia Monk
Vonda Pabon
LaTanya Pender
Janis Suratt
Lynda Wagoner
These ten (10) Guilford County Public Health Nurse reflect the high standards of practice exhibited by our entire workforce of dedicated public health nurses (PHN). They were selected by a review committee of eight (8) PHN peers from practice and academia using a scoring rubric for each of the professional categories (Front line PHNs, Supervisors/directors, DPH nurse consultants, and PH faculty). The recipients demonstrate noteworthy evidence of Innovation, Collaboration, Community-Centered Care, or Professionalism in their work setting. Being selected demonstrates that these nurses stand out as leaders in North Carolina’s public health workforce.
In celebration of the 100 Distinguished Public Health Nurses, an Awards luncheon was held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro on September 24. Each Distinguished Public Health Nurse received a certificate and celebratory trophy while being honored on stage during the luncheon.
