BACKGROUND
Background
The Aging and Adult Services Division (AASD) assists the aging and disabled adult population of Guilford County in achieving and maintaining a safe and healthy quality of life, while promoting sustainable independence.
The AASD is composed of six (6) teams covering eleven (11) program areas including: Adult Protective Services, Adult Guardianship, Adult Foster Care, Adult Outreach and Support, and In-Home Aide/Adult Day Services.
Statistics show that North Carolina has an aging population and the need for AASD services continues to grow. We know that maintaining adults in their home environment with supportive community-based services are preferred by adults and is more cost effective than out of home placement. AASD services are a critical part of the Mission of Guilford County DHHS - DSS Division.
