BACKGROUND
Background
North Carolina General Statute §122C-251 (Session Law 2018-33) requires that each County and each City within that County with a law enforcement agency to adopt a plan for the transportation of individuals in involuntary commitment proceedings. The purpose of this Agreement is to improve behavioral health access, provide quicker transportation of persons to health care facilities and to lower confusion and delays in the administration of these services to the residents of Guilford County. This Agreement between the legislative bodies will effectuate the attached Agreement For Involuntary Commitment Transportation between the Guilford County Sheriffs Office, the Greensboro Police Department, the High Point Police Department, and the Gibsonville Police Department for transport of these individuals to local care facilities and to District Court as required under state law. This Agreement shall become effective upon execution by all parties and ratification by resolutions of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, the Greensboro City Council, the High Point City Council, and The Gibsonville City Council in accordance with N.C.G.S. §160A-46.
