BACKGROUND

Background

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program is administered through the Bureau of Justice Assistance.  This grant is a joint application between the Cities of Greensboro, High Point and Guilford County.  This grant may be used for various criminal justice purposes to enhance public safety.  The 2018 Award allocation for the Guilford County Sheriff's Office is $54,295. 

 

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office is requesting this award be allocated in the 2019-2020 Law Enforcement budget to purchase one (1) marked patrol unit, as well as SPEX software licensing for an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) machine.

Approve receipt of the 2018 Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $54,295; increase Federal/State Revenues and the FY 2019-20 Law Enforcement budget by $54,295 to reflect grant funding; and approve purchase of one (1) marked patrol vehicle, and SPEX software licensing for an Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) machine in the Sheriff's Office.
