BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is requesting approval to purchase nine (9) vehicles (Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD models) for use in the School Resource Team. The estimated cost of each vehicle is $32,400. The estimated cost to outfit each vehicle with all equipment is $23,067. Total cost per vehicle is $55,467, for a total of $499,203 for nine (9) vehicles. The funds to purchase the vehicles, equipment and any ancillary costs will come from the Department of Justice Federal Forfeiture Funds. The unaudited available balance of Department of Justice Federal Forfeiture Funds prior to this purchase is estimated to be $546,235, pending year-end close. The unaudited fund balance anticipated to be available after this purchase is $0. This purchase will be on the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association State Contract # 19-05-0911 from Performance Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 605 Warsaw Rd. Clinton, NC 28328.

REQUESTED ACTION
Requested Action
Approve an increase of $358,831 in Appropriated Fund Balance (Federal Forfeiture Funds) and increase the FY 2019-20 Law Enforcement budget by the same amount for the planned purchase of nine (9) vehicles for Law Enforcement to be used by the School Resource Team; and approve the purchase and upfit of nine (9) Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD vehicles at a total combined cost of $499,203.
