BACKGROUND
Background
Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural Districts (EVAD) were developed by the NC Department of Agriculture to encourage the preservation and protection of farmland from non-farm development.
During its March 18th, 2019 meeting, the Guilford County Agricultural Advisory Board approved the following application(s):
1. VAD Application #2019-02, being 101.74 acres and comprised of two (2) Tax Parcels (#123882 @ 90.82 acres, #123885 @ 10.92 acres) all owned by John and Sandra Greeson of Julian, NC.
2. VAD Application # 2019-03, being 95.02 acres and comprised of (2) Tax Parcels (#123889 @ 84.27 acres, #123887 @ 10.75 acres) all owned by Jane and Lawrence Lackey of Julian, NC.
3. VAD Application # 2019-04, being 267.65 acres and comprised of (8) Tax Parcels (#103041 @ 65.59 acres, #101476 @ 46.45 acres,#105328 @ 53.12 acres,#228309 @ 39.90 acres,#227145 @ 18.77 acres, #226819 @ 17.04 acres,#226360 @ 11.21 acres, #226089 @ 15.57 acres) all owned by James and Peggy Greeson.
To date, approval of this application brings the total number of VAD and EVAD parcels to 401 totaling, 17,695.64 acres enrolled. Of these totals, 362 parcels comprising 16,021.96 acres are enrolled in VAD, and 39 parcels comprising 1673.68 acres are enrolled in the EVAD.
