BACKGROUND
Background
Each year the Sheriff’s Department allocates funds for equipment replacement costs for computer equipment reaching end of life. During this fiscal year the, Sheriff’s office plans to replace thirty-six (36) Mobile Computer Terminals (MCTs) along with ancillary costs such as docking stations, power cords and port replicators. These computers are used for report writing, ticket issuance, warrant checks, etc., for officers working in their patrol vehicles. This acquisition has been approved through the County’s Internal Technology Review Committee (ITAC) and is consistent with the County’s 5-year replacement schedule for PCs and Mobile PCs. The purchase will be made through State Contract (CDW-G) and is not expected to exceed $125,000. The ITAC Review committee authorized the cost of 35 MCTs and through cost savings associated with re-use of some ancillary equiptment are now able to purchase 36 MCTs.
