BACKGROUND
Background
Guilford County Emergency Management maintains a Chemical Facility Planning Fee to support the Chemical Planning and Notification program in Guilford County. Initially, $160,000 was budgeted for revenues in the FY 2018-19 budget; however based upon actual receipts and chemical inventories reviewed, the actual amount received is $175,425 to date. Emergency Services is working to upgrade the community and stakeholder notification system to speed the initiation and receipt of mass notification messages to critical events. Emergency Services is requesting that an additional $15,000 in expenses be allocated to the FY 2018-19 budget in support of the Community Notification System program to be funded by the additional $15,000 received over the adopted budget in chemical facility planning fees.
