BACKGROUND
Background
The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office is requesting approval to purchase three vehicles (Dodge Durango Pursuit models) for use in the new formed Special Operations Division Traffic Enforcement Team. Two vehicles are for officers and one is for a supervisor. The estimated cost of each vehicle is $36,100. The estimated cost to outfit each vehicle with all equipment is $21,100. Total cost per vehicle is $57,200, for a total of $171,600 for three vehicles. The funds to purchase the vehicles, equipment and any ancillary costs will come from the Department of Justice, Federal Forfeiture Funds. The approximate available balance of Federal Forfeiture Funds prior to appropriation in this fund is $780,574. REQUESTED ACTION
Requested Action
Approve an increase of $171,600 in Appropriated Fund Balance (Federal Forfeiture Funds) and increase the FY 2018-19 Law Enforcement budget by the same amount for the planned purchase of three vehicles for the Traffic Enforcement Team; and approve the purchase of three Dodge Durango Pursuit vehicles for Law Enforcement.
