BACKGROUND

Background

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office has applied for and received a grant from the Governor’s Crime Commission to fund one full time deputy sheriff and one part time (contractual) victim’s advocate.  These are law enforcement positions housed in the Family Justice Center(FJC) in Greensboro which assist in the overall mission of the FJC.  These law enforcement positions assist victims of domestic violence wade through the civil/legal process and the victim’s advocate provides advocacy services.  While a ‘new’ Crime Commission grant, these positions have been previously funded for 4 years. The match for this grant comes in the form of salaries for the position which supervises this unit. The Federal Award is $117,141.00 and the previously budgeted match is $39,047.00.
